Morris turns 2!

June 2010, bought about Little Morris' 2nd Birthday. My how my sweet little baby boy is growing. He had an Elmo theme birthday because he was sooo in love with Elmo. I'm not sure what it is about Elmo that kids love, but they love him! We had a birthday party at our house with lots of friends and family. I'll leave you with some pictures!

So, I'll try this again

So...it has been over a year since I updated this. So much has changed since then and I feel like I can't just start here...so I'll have to pull out my datebook and start from March 2010.

Morris and I had been talking about getting pregnant again, but at this point Morris was 20 months old and a HAND FULL! So, we kept putting it off. Well, God had other plans, and on March 14th, I had a positive pregnancy test. So, yes, we were a little surprised, but so excited at the same time. I think planning pregnancy is difficult, because there will always be a reason on why you should wait, because there will always be something going on. Anyway, we waited no time to start telling everyone. I, of course, hoped for a girl. While Morris on the other hand was praying for a boy. He always said that having a girl would make him crazy for the simple fact that he knew he would be very protective of her. It isn't that he felt like he wouldn't love a girl, he was just scared of the thought of having a girl and having to "ward" off boys one day!

My first ultrasound was scheduled for April 14th (when I would be approximately 8 weeks or so). Well on Saturday, March 27, 2010, I started to have spotting and bleeding. I called my mom at 11:30pm in tears and told her what was happening. I, of course, looked up my symptoms online, and thought that I could be miscarrying because I also had some cramping, but no significant pain. I called the on-call doctor on Sunday, which happened to be my OBGYN, and he told me to come in Monday. I did. He told me that 6 weeks is still early to find a heart beat, but that we would take a look. Well, to our relief, he found a weak heart beat. So, without getting our hopes up too high, he told us that it would basically be a waiting game until my 8 week appointment. And almost as suddenly as I started spotting, it disappeared 1 day after that initial appointment. That made me feel better, but I still knew that I had to wait 2 more weeks before I could see another heart beat.

On March 31, 2010, my mom and dad took us all to Disney. We were there for 5 days and had a blast! Little Morris LOVED it...he didn't care much for the life size characters, but he did have alot of fun.

April rolled around, and Morris and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary and we also had another doctor's appointment. They found a strong heart beat, I hadn't had anymore bleeding and everything was looking good! RELIEF!! I didn't realize how much I wanted this pregnancy, until I thought that I might lose it! We could finally breath again. Nothing too interesting or exciting happened for the rest of April or May.

I will leave you with some pictures from Disney!!

We celebrated Easter while in Disney...not the best picture...but I already uploaded it, and don't feel like searching for a better one! LOL

Decisions...Decisions...

Trying to decide whether or not to restart my blog. Life is definitely busier now a days, but I think I might be getting a little more organized with two little ones, and may actually be able to write more often (no promises though). However, before I start writing a blog again, I want to actually know that someone is reading it (someone besides you Aunt Mammy)! So leave me a comment...

SNOW!!!!

Yipee! It actually snowed...ALOT...in Charleston, SC. It was so exciting and fun for little Morris. I accidentally uploaded the pictures in the wrong order, but it is such a pain to start over...so deal with it! :)

Here is Tommy the morning after it snowed making his snow angel! I thing the adults had almost as much fun as the children! I know I did. Me and little Morris making our own snow angels!

Of course we had to make a snowman!

Our street...it doesn't even look like our neighborhood!

Family snow picture.

The night it snowed!

He was trying to catch the snow flakes as they fell.

I'm Soooo Late

I know that it has been over 2 months since I updated this...but time has seriously been flying by! I just got so wrapped up with the holidays, cruise, etc. So here is the latest...

I was actually off this Thanksgiving! Yipee! We had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner at my house this year...but I didn't have to cook anything! (don't ask how I got out of that one...I don't think anyone really wanted to try my cooking anyway! It's getting better though!) My family, Morris' family and his aunt and uncle from Florida all came. It was so nice to have family together. Having it at my house was a little different this year, but with our growing and expanding family, it just made things easier.

Then Morris, myself, Morris' brother John, my sister and brother all went on a 7 day cruise from Dec. 12-19. It was a very much needed break, however...I did miss my baby boy like CRAZY!! We went to Cozumel, Isla Roatan (Honduras), Belize and Costa Maya. We had the luxury of cruising on Carnival's brand new ship, the Dream. We really enjoyed ourselves, but were also really happy to be home. The week before we left my life was a whirlwind! I knew that we would get back on Saturday the 19th. Sunday would be spent unpacking, doing laundry and spending time with my baby, and then Monday and Tuesday I worked evening shift. Christmas Eve was on Thursday. So the entire week before, I did ALL of my christmas shopping, wrapped all of the Christmas presents, grocery shopping, laundry, packing, cleaned my entire house from top to bottom (because who wants to come home to a dirty house?). That was a very stressful week for me...and on top of all that, you have to throw in there being a mommy and wife, which we all know is another full time job. Ohhhh...and don't forget the couponing, my new part time job.

And while we are on couponing...I don't think I've touched on that in this blog. Well, we all know that I am very patiently awaiting a day shift position which will be a pretty significant pay cut. Sooo...I've started couponing. But it isn't just "clipping" some coupons and going to the grocery store. I'm talking about going to the grocery store and spending $226 and only paying $89. Or spending $70 and only paying $9.86. That is right friends...these are real figures from some of my grocery outings. I ALWAYS save at least 50% off of my bill! If you want to know the trick...I will definitely teach you or you can visit www.southernsavers.com and see for yourself. The basis behind it is this...buy a paper every Sunday (figure out a way to organize it...whatever works best for you). Then visit that website. She tells you what is already on sale, and where to look to find the coupon for it (it could be an online coupon or a newspaper coupon). Then when it is on sale, and you use a coupon, and the store doubles it (how much they double depends on their policy), you end up only paying pennies for some items; there are usually a couple of things you end up getting for free each week. Very time consuming, but totally worth it!

Now on to Christmas. This year we did Christmas a little differently. We celebrated Christmas at my parents house on Christmas Eve. We had a very yummy dinner together and opened presents. That was the first time this year little Morris had opened presents, and he got sooo excited! I loved it. Seeing him so excited on Christmas Eve had me so excited for Christmas morning...which didn't exactly turn out the way I had envisioned it. Christmas morning, before anyone came over, Morris and I did give little Morris his stocking, which was filled with DVD's, bath toys, etc, and when he pulled out the Elmo DVD, he was so ecstatic. He just kept saying "Melmo" "momma....Melmo!" It was so cute. So then my family and Morris' family came over for breakfast. The plan was to have breakfast, then open presents. I learned my lesson! By the time we finished breakfast, sorted through gifts and started opening, Morris had opened maybe 3 presents and was OVER IT! He was overstimulated and sleepy, so I had to put him down for his nap. He didn't even get to finish opening his gifts and I was so sad. I ended up getting called off, and didn't have to go to work, so we went to Morris' parents house, had dinner and went home and finished opening presents. This time it was much more exciting for little Morris and so I was happy. Next year we'll do presents first!

And so that brings us to the New Year. It has started out rough for us! Ohhh...back up to Christmas Eve. Morris and his cousin Bradley were horse-playing and little Morris fell. He cried, but only for a few minutes. Well when we got home, I realized that one of his front teeth had been chipped! Yep...I cried...ALOT! Of course daddy says "he's a boy. That's what boys do. He's tough!" And all I can see is his chipped tooth...oh well...he is still handsome! Ok, back to now. Well, on Wednesday he got a hold of a pair of scissors (can you tell this isn't going in a good direction?). When I saw that he had them and told him to give them to me and went to take them from him, he squeezed them. The next thing I knew was that he was screaming and there was blood dripping. I applied pressure and ran to my neighbors house and asked her to take us to the ER because Morris was at work. We got to the ER, and my fears were confirmed; he needed stitches. The next hurdle was "how." The ER doctor wanted to get a clean suture line and wanted to get a good look to see if there was any tendon or ligament damage. There was no way he would accomplish this because we were literally having to pry little Morris' hand open and away from his body to even get a glimpse. The only option was conscious sedation...so off to dream land my little baby went. Can you image what a wreck and mess momma was at this point?! I'm glad Morris was there because he was having to take care of me at some points. Then after we got him to wake up, he got sick. Which didn't end at that moment, it carried on through the night. Momma and baby slept in the bed together and daddy (what a trooper) slept on the couch. We go Friday the 22nd to see a surgeon to be sure there wasn't any damage to any ligaments or tendons. It doesn't really seem to bother him much. He is still playing and acting like a boy! It slowed him down for that day and that day only. He doesn't use it unless he HAS to, but he does. And it is all wrapped up in guaze. Please pray that we won't find any damage.

Little Morris was supposed to start daycare on Monday, but because of the stitches, I asked them if we could start on the 25th. So that is when we will start! Please continue to pray for a smooth transition.

I'm sure this seemed like the never-ending post, but this is what happens when I get slack and don't update frequently enough. We love you all! I'll go ahead and publish this post, and I'll post some pictures after I work this weekend.

ROAR says the little lion

Obviously my updating this blog weekly isn't exactly working out. But...for those of you that have or have had at one point a toddler, then you understand why I haven't had a lot of free time to update our blog. That is one reason I've been slack...the other reason is because I have been very consumed with southernsavers.com! I am saving so much money it is ridiculous! I get so excited every time I go grocery shopping, I call my closest friends, sister and mom to share with them how much I saved. This week (I know you must be wondering...), I spent $86 at Publix, but only paid $28! Crazy...I know! I am a walking southersavers.com advertisement.

Anyhow...back to the blog. So this month was a busy one. I took Little Morris, Bree and Bradley to the Pumpkin Patch, and they loved it. They had a lot of fun there. They even got to go on a hayride, and I think that was the most exciting for them.

For halloween, Little Morris was a Lion. And we taught him to ROAR, and it was sooo cute! Cutest little lion I've ever seen! :) He was so cute trick-or-treating. I wasn't sure that he would get the whole concept, but after 2 houses, he had it down! He held his little pumpkin bucket in his left hand, and would hold his right hand out for the candy! I tried to get him to hold out his bucket, but I think maybe he thought that they would take his candy, because he refused. It was cute though. He didn't want anyone to carry him. He kept up with Bree and Bradley for the most part, and just ran his little heart out! He was definitely tuckered out by the time we had finished!

We also went to the fair! He loved the Merry-Go-Round. It was the first and last thing we did at the fair. The first time, he enjoyed it, and he got a little upset when he realized it was over and I was taking him off. Well, everyone went to get some last minute fair food, and while we waited, I decided to take Little Morris on the Merry-Go-Round for one last ride. Well, this time, he screamed when I tried to take him off, he latched his little legs around that horse, and held on so tight to the pole, that I had to literally pry his hands off. He did love it though! He and his daddy won a stuffed animal playing one of those little water gun games where you have to shoot the target. I was surprised because Little Morris was in Morris' lap trying to grab at the water squirter, but they still won! Yippee!

Little Morris is keeping us very busy, but we are so thankful that we were blessed with him! It is difficult to imagine or even remember life before him. He is constantly making us smile and laugh. He is a very particular little guy, but I think that he must get that from me. And he knows what he wants and when he wants it...and i guess that probably comes from me too!

What is going on with me and daddy? There really isn't a whole lot new going on for us. We are getting excited for our upcoming cruise in December. Excited, but also very nervous about leaving my baby for 7 days! I know he will be in good hands...but I also know I am going to miss him like crazy...probably more than he will miss us! I am also headed to day shift in the near future. No definite time yet, but it seems like it might happen soon! I am very excited about this. Again, nervous, because Little Morris will have to go to daycare, but I know it will be better for our family in the long run. I can't wait to have the weekends to spend together as a family. I know that daycare will be difficult for Little Morris in the begining, but before I know it, I'm sure he will be waving bye-bye, and saying, "I don't wanna go home yet!" He is just such a momma's boy that I worry. He is just so used to it being just the two of us during the week, and he is VERY dependent on mommy. I know that the socialization will be good for him, etc. but I'm still nervous. So please keep us in your prayers and pray for a smooth (or as smooth as possible) transition when the time comes.

We love you all, and hope that you enjoy the pictures below...there alot! I just couldn't choose! That is what happens when you have such a good-lookin' boy! :)

Gettin' ready for Halloween with his ghost pj's. The little ghost on the shirt glow in the dark! Pumpkin Patch - left to right: Bradley, Ava, Gavin, Little Morris and Breana

Ok...so I LOVE this picture! The story is this - Breana and Bradley were at my house and they wanted to feed the ducks. I gave them bread and let them jump over the fence to go feed them. And there is Little Morris, just looking over and watching...probably saying to himself "I wanna come...." So sweet!
Pumpkin carving time. Luckily, my wonderful husband cleaned out the inside (I don't like the goo). And apparently Little Morris doesn't like the guts of the pumpkin either because he refused to grab any of it!

Gotta love those Mema's!
Loving on his daddy!
He has recently decided to boycott the highchair. I guess he thinks that he is a BIG BOY now, and likes to eat at the big table!
Happy Halloween from the Ferocious Lion! PS - check out our pumpkin in the back...it is a ghost with the word "boo"

The fair...and the infamous Merry-Go-Round!
Mema and Poppy fed him anything that he wanted...and he loved the chocolate ice cream.
